German Bundesliga

Bundesliga, contested by 18 clubs, is a double round-robin competition. Each club plays the others twice, once at home and once away. Teams receive three points for a win and one point for a draw. No points are awarded for a loss. Teams are ranked by total points at the end of the season. If teams share the same points, tie-breakers are applied in the following order: goal difference, total goals scored, head-to-head points, head-to-head goals scored, head-to-head away goals scored, total away goals scored for the entire season. If two clubs are tied when competing for the champion, promotion and qualification to the UEFA Champions League, a single-legged playoff will be held at a neutral venue to determine the placement. A draw is used under other circumstances.

The top four clubs in the table qualify automatically for the group phase of the UEFA Champions League. The fifth place go to the Europa League and the sixth place enter the qualifiers of Europa League. The winner of German Cup qualifies for group stage of Europa League. If the champion has already qualified for the Champions League, the place go to the top ranked team in the league that have not qualified for the UCL. If the champions of Champions League and Europa League are from Bundesliga and both have not qualified for the Champions League through the league, the fourth ranked team enter the Europa League. The two teams at the bottom of the table are relegated into 2. Bundesliga, and the third-to-last competes with the third place of 2. Bundesliga play a double-legged playoffs.
